Corsair 970 "KA ORA" on a demo sail on Canyon Lake, Texas

It was a beautiful weekend on Canyon Lake and it was very hot!

Fortunately, the wind picked up every afternoon for us.
Canyon Lake, Texas, is recognized as “The Jewel” of the Texas Hill Country. Its location is on the Guadalupe River.

Owner JT Cody, of "KA ORA" was extremely gracious to host us this weekend and another couple who flew in from California to experience his Corsair 970. If you're wondering what's the meaning behind the boat name "KA ORA" here is an explanation...the name "KA ORA", is derived from the Maori language, which means “I Live.”  Live, to dream, to take chances, and
be proud of who you are.

Saling with 6 onboard was comfortable for all. The more functional cockpit is extended and an aft deck mainsheet track facilitates free movement within the cockpit. The raised, side seating increases both comfort and visibility (a great design feature is taken from the highly successful C37).

For sailing performance, the high volume floats have been designed with additional buoyancy giving the Cruze 970 greater stability and comfort for all her passengers.

Corsair’s trusted folding system, proven in over 2,000 Corsairs ensures that road trailering remains easy. The retractable dagger board and rudder enable the boat to be floated in just inches of water or pushed up onto the beach when enjoying cruising adventures with family and friends.

The Cruze 970 comes standard with a large number of “options” including a roller furling jib and mainsail, a two-burner propane stove, a 39-gallon fresh water tank, a washbasin with pull-out shower attachment, a floor drain with sump pump, and a marine head with a 13-gallon holding tank. Several other options can be specified when ordering a Cruze 970 such as refrigeration, autopilot etc.

Corsair 970 - Training

Corsair 970.png

Three days of intense training on a Corsair 970.

The Trimaran Sailing Clinic from 180 Marine is designed to provide the essential foundation of sailing skills on a Corsair trimaran. Learn how to sail a Corsair better, or sample what Corsair trimarans are like to sail if you've always wondered.

This private clinic was held in December 2018 in Southern California on a Corsair 970.
Small group clinics are offered as well.

Corsair 970.png

We sailed out of Oceanside, California (just north of San Diego).
Other training clinics will be held throughout the year in Dana Point or San Diego. And we have a clinic planned in September in New Jersey sailing a new Corsair 760R. For more information contact Leslie Gabriel - leslie@180marine.com

We offer clinics as half-day, single-day or two-day sailing clinics, these experiences get the new trimaran owner started out right while building upon previous sailing experience. Using the very latest Corsair trimarans as our teaching platform, we begin with trimaran design and boat dynamics, mast raising and lowering and how to launch either by crane or ramp. As you become more confident with your sailing skills, it’s possible to sail to Catalina Island, 61 miles (53.26 nautical miles) out from Oceanside on the Corsair 970. We wouldn't recommend sailing the Pulse 600 out to Catalina Island unless you really like it athletic!

We also offer training at the location of your choice on your new Corsair trimaran.

Our instruction is extremely comprehensive. We believe strongly that the best way to learn to sail is by actually sailing!  And with a maximum of four sailors per boat, all sailors are certain to receive plenty of personal attention. Participants gain extensive hands-on experience, building the sailing skills and knowledge specific to sailing a trimaran.
