Colorado's Grand Lake Melges 15 Fleet Named Nation's Second Largest
When the Melges 15 was launched in early 2020, there was a great deal of intrigue and excitement for the new asymmetric dinghy boat. Who could have thought that nearly a year later, Colorado—a completely land-locked desert state—would be named the home of the second-largest M15 fleet in the United States. The Grand Lake Yacht Club (Grand Lake, Colorado) is the proud home of a 9 boat strong fleet of M15s. We can’t wait to see the fleet line up at a start line with the beautiful backdrop of the Rocky Mountains very soon!

“New owner John O’Donnell (Montana) will be sailing his first class event this weekend. O’Donnell plans to race summers in Grand Lake, CO where the class is building momentum as the nation’s second largest fleet. “Everyone in Grand Lake is excited to be part of a new class that’s growing instead of trying to revive something old,” explained O’Donnell. “There’s a big convenience factor – it’s easy to rig, easy to launch, and a blast to sail.””
