Corsair trimaran training - San Francisco, California

Richard Allen enjoyed a delivery sail on a 2018 Corsair 760 Sport on San Francisco Bay. The boat was towed cross-country to a new owner this month. We had great wind conditions for a first sail, and this Corsair came all the way out west from Arkansas to meet its new owner. Michael has plans to sail in the bay with fellow trimaran sailors, Ross Stein and Rafi Yahalom, they are a couple of the most experienced trimaran sailors on the bay! That will help the learning curve…

This Corsair 760 Sport was customized for race-winning performance and easy cruising. Dealer mods include the primary and secondary control lines leading back to the cockpit. At 180 Marine we make a point to discuss deck layout with owners to optimize sailing efficiency for the sailing they enjoy most. There’s no single solution that’s best.

Nothing is underdone. The traveler purchase is increased from 3:1 to 4:1. The mainsail halyard is doubled from 1:1 to 2:1. The mainsheet is upgraded from 5:1 - 8:1. Making these changes offers easier trimming and lower loads on the lines. Bottom line is extending the the life of the rigging and a key benefit is trimming and tacking much smoother.

As speed increases so do the loads. After 10 knots it’s really nice to have extra purchase. Makes life easier on the crew and captain!
