The Bay Area Multihull Association (BAMA) is pleased to announce that it will organize the 2026 Corsair Nationals, bringing championship trimaran racing to the legendary waters of San Francisco Bay on July 17-19, 2026. This three-day event will showcase elite competition while celebrating the broader trimaran sailing community.
Corsair 880 Sport
The 2026 Corsair Nationals will feature championship racing with official Corsair Nationals standings, offering multiple race formats that highlight the speed and precision of competitive trimaran sailing. Sailors from across the nation will compete on San Francisco Bay’s renowned waters, with participants having the opportunity to prove themselves against the nation’s best.
This event embodies the spirit of 'Race, Connect, and Celebrate'. The regatta welcomes all sailors, whether competing in the racing fleet or cruising alongside to spectate. With guided Bay exploration during race breaks and front-row viewing of championship starts, non-racers can experience the excitement of elite competition while connecting with passionate trimaran enthusiasts.
Beyond racing, the event will feature daily social activities with members of the racing fleet, championship awards and recognition ceremonies, and opportunities to learn from trimaran experts. This creates a comprehensive sailing program designed to serve participants at all levels of engagement and expertise.
For those visitors looking to extend their time in Northern California, the event offers opportunities to make it part of a larger vacation, with proximity to Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, and Monterey Bay. Additionally, participants can join other regattas on July 25 for another Golden Gate sailing opportunity.
More information is available at sfbama.org/2026corsairnationals, or by emailing 2026corsairnationals@sfbama.org.
The regatta will feature a three‑day program with a long‑distance race on Friday and multiple buoy races over the weekend, sailed in the south and central Bay in classic July San Francisco conditions. Two primary classes will be offered, scored separately: a Corsair Class for Corsair‑built and legacy Farrier‑designed trimarans, and an Open Class for other multihulls of at least 19 feet LOA holding a valid 2026 BAMA PHRF Rating Certificate. Additional one‑design classes may be created with a minimum of five entries.
Series prizes will be awarded for 1st–3rd in each class, and the Corsair National Championship Perpetual Trophy will go to the Corsair‑built boat with the lowest combined‑class series score.
