Corsair 760 trimaran training

The 180 Marine trimaran performance sailing clinic will be hosted on March 14th, 2019 with a second session on March 18th. Sign up for one day or both!

We are very fortunate to bookend our training sessions around the 2019 San Diego NOOD Regatta. The details are below.

It's a perfect chance for an invaluable training "prep day" before the regatta OR to de-brief after the event with "what-if" scenarios. Go Fast is a great strategy when all other strategies will fail you. We use an easy-to-interpret approach to arriving at optimal sail trim. Sessions will be lead by trimaran sailing coaches/racers/owners Jeff Vaught and Richard Allen. Topics covered in daily dock talks will be immediately reinforced with on-the-water drills.

Is on-the-boat communication the issue? We'll find out. Inconsistent sail trim? Sailing to the wrong side of the course? You'll enjoy the quality of the instruction and the patient onboard coaching from each instructor. But you'll benefit most from the camaraderie among the participants. When the group connects, good things happen!  The focus is on helping current and prospective Corsair owners accelerate their skills, and for all to enjoy the unbeatable experience of well-sailed Corsair trimarans.

We are hosting 2 training sessions… before and after the NOOD race day.

Thursday, March 14th and Sunday, March 17th
Location: Shelter Island, Training in San Diego Bay
Trainers: Jeff Vaught and Richard Allen
Model: Corsair 760 (we can add another Corsair, “gotta get a bigger boat”)
Fee: $325 per person per day (6 hours).

We will have only 4-8 spots each day. The fee is collected when you sign up to cover the boat charter and the cost to host this training in a great venue.

If you can join in, act fast. Just send an email to leslie@180marine.com

1. Tell us if you want a 1-day session or the 2-day course.

2. Share a little about your sailing background, and why you want to join the training and your goals for this year.

3. Tell us what you are sailing now, and if you will be sailing on a trimaran crew.

4. Please share if you plan to buy a trimaran, new or used this year.

Thanks!

More on the training sessions:

Sailors will be coming from many different places (Colorado, Pennsylvania, Texas, Kentucky, Wyoming, and even California!) with different levels of experience. Different levels of sailing experience in a group can sometimes cause LEARNING, so be prepared for a great time.

The clinic covers a variety of topics... starting with docking, using tell tales to trim AND steer smart for maximum speed on the course. Techniques for tacking and jibing, how to set up a spinnaker, spinnaker hoisting, and dousing, man-overboard recovery, judging a starting line and more. We decide the daily agenda when we know the background of the class on each session day.

Some of the topics covered in the demonstrations and drills are very challenging for less-experienced participants. No sweat. Each sailor's skills improve from where they were at the beginning. Team spirit takes over and helps each participant make good on every tack, gybe or spinnaker set and take down. It's pretty cool to watch!
